Spotlight of the Week- Demi

Hello lovely readers,

I’ve missed you guys!  I have not posted to my blog in a couple weeks because I was traveling and visiting my family in New York. I had an amazing time; I am refreshed & ready to continue writing on my blog! ♥

This week’s spotlight goes to a young lady named Demi;  she is extremely funny, sassy and beautiful. I can’t wait to share her story with you!  IMG_1154She is actually married to my little brother and they couldn’t have been any more perfect for each other. They love to laugh and they crack jokes all day long, it is always a good time when you are around them 🙂 ♥  Demi’s creative talent is serving others and sharing the love of Jesus. Demi stated “God has truly changed my heart, and my soul, and my life.  I remember how empty and lost I felt just going through the motions and yearning for something more. Jesus has brought love, grace, purpose, and peace in my life. Sharing that with others and planting the seed in them is the most beautiful and rewarding feeling in the world. Being able to witness God work in others life is an un-explainable blessing, there’s nothing like it. ”

Before Demi was able to fully serve others and share the love of Jesus with others she had many fears that held her back. She felt that she was not good enough, she thought that her sin and her past made her unworthy of being forgiven and loved by God. I must say as the writer and interviewer of these women everyone has almost the same fear, it is usually that they feel they are not good enough. This shows me that almost everyone feels this way at one point or another in their life and we must overcome this fear no matter how hard it may be! I would like to challenge each and every one of you reading this to tell yourself every morning in the mirror “YOU ARE ENOUGH, YOU ARE SPECIAL & YOU ARE LOVED!” #loveyourself #spreadlove #creativelylinked

Demi stated another big fear she had was the fear of the unknown & not being in control. She stated “I didn’t grow up knowing  who Jesus was and I had so many questions. I didn’t know that I am loved regardless of my sin, regardless of my past, and I didn’t know what it was like to have freedom in Christ. Letting go of control and letting Him have a hold in my heart and in my life has changed everything. It’s definitely scary at times because its our instinct to have a plan. But that is what faith is about. Let go, and let God. His plan is greater than ours, and when we allow Him to do his work in our life it’s really incredible to see His plans play out.”

Demi has goals set for her self that she wishes to accomplish and Creatively Linked knows she can accomplish these goals! This year, she made a promise to her self to do these three things listed below:

  1. Build a strong foundation in her relationship with Jesus
  2. Learn to have self love
  3. Overcome fear

She stated “I personally have struggled with my weight these past couple years and have become my biggest enemy. I am learning and working on loving myself in my own skin, and for who I am as a person. I know that as I build a stronger relationship with my God he will make me a stronger woman, and I will learn to be proud of who I am. Loving yourself for WHO you are, not WHAT you are is everything. We as women shouldn’t let things that we see as flaws define us. We are fearfully and wonderfully made!! And then there is fear… crazy when you stop and think about it, fear is not real- its all in our heads. I would say I am a very ambitious person, and I believe strongly that there are always new challenges, goals, and accomplishments to set forth for yourself. After high school I had a lot of ugly things happen that I allowed to stop me from being the ambitious and loving person that I am. So much of it had to do with fear. I’ve learned that its important to over come hardship in your life, otherwise it will control you forever. There is so much peace in forgiveness and letting go of the past. I always remind myself that there is no perfect time…ever. The time is now, all it takes is the first step. Don’t allow fear to blind you. Believe in yourself, let whatever fear you have serve as motivation, over come the obstacles, be persistent, and embrace the process.”  Demi has great wisdom and we can all learn a lot from her strong & powerful words.

Demi has many accomplishments in her life but her favorite of them all is surrendering her life to Christ. Her second one is marrying her husband, she says she is truly blessed God gave her the Prince Charming that she always dreamed of. She stated “I love him more than words could ever describe!” FullSizeRender copy 5Her last accomplishment she is proud of is buying her very first home this year with her husband! She shared this:  “My husband and I are truly blessed and we cannot thank God enough. We are lucky enough to have a new build so we are really excited to be the first ones to create memories in our home. Right now its just us, so we can’t wait to watch our future children grow up in our home. We’re also writing bible verses and prayers all over the foundation of the home  and everything while their building the house. It will be cool to know that behind the walls, all over the wood that built our home are prayers for our marriage, for our family, for our children and all our guests even though no one can see it. ”

I asked Demi if there was anything she is passionate about that she hasn’t started yet?  She replied “I’m a very compassionate person and have a big heart for kids. I really want to make a difference in my life in more ways than just accomplishing career goals, etc. I want to have positive influence in troubled teens life. They are not bad people, and they are not bad children. They need love, they need guidance, and they need Jesus. I want to be apart of a foundation or program that would do this for them and make a difference in our community. Like a safe place that they can go to and escape the chaos that’s in their life, and surround them with positive & loving people. Many outreach programs focus on everywhere else but the kids here in the U.S. – I’d like to create something for our country and give these children hope, love, and a bright future.Creatively Linked can’t wait until this dream and goal comes true for Demi!

If Demi could go back in time and speak to her younger self she would say:  “Be you, be bold, be fearless, know who you are in Christ, and enjoy the present. “

Demi’s favorite quote is:

“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire!

Demi’s mission statement for her life is:

“Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

– Colossians 3:12

If Demi’s favorite playlist on Spotify/Apple music was heard by a stranger they would say she is someone who likes to enjoy the simple things in life, and have fun!

Demi shared some last words in her interview stating this:

“I would just like to share that one thing I have learned at this point in my life …life is a PROCESS. It takes time, patience, and we need to believe in ourselves! As a 24 year old, I personally feel like your twenties is a time where you are getting to know who are really are.  I’m sure as we get older and wiser, we continuously learn so much about ourselves. With all the social media, I know so many of us compare ourselves constantly. But I’ve learned that number one, before I can really show love for others, I need to love myself, I need to be PROUD of who I am, and I need to understand that no one is perfect. Learning that is essential to your self development, and trusting the process! Be proud of all your accomplishments, both big and small.. embrace whatever failure or trial you are going through! You are learning, you are growing, and you are exactly where you need to be! When I get frustrated with myself or down on myself, I always remind myself of these two things… I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and “Trust in The Lord with all your heart, and lean note on your own understanding…” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Remember God is in control, and he will never fail you. Trust in Him always, and you will see Gods hand in everything. “
